Canned Salmon Burger Recipe

You may certainly make this canned Salmon Burger recipe without the suggested Broccoli Slaw on the side, but it just wouldn't be the same.  For instance, I like to put the Broccoli Slaw right on the burger.  My husband likes his on the side.  Either way, it is delicious.

Salmon Burger

What you will need:

  • 14 or 15 ounce can of Salmon
  • 2 Eggs
  • ½ cup Breadcrumbs 
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 clove Minced Garlic
  • ¼ cup Fresh Dill, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Olive Oil for frying
  • 4 Hamburger Buns

Substitutes:
Breadcrumbs could be replaced with Panko.
Fresh Dill could be replaced with fresh parsley or cilantro.

How to Make it:

Drain the can of salmon.  Using a fork, flake the salmon in a bowl. Mix the eggs, breadcrumbs, salt, garlic, dill and lemon juice together. Put a little oil on your hands and form the salmon mixture into either 3 or 4 patties.

Heat the olive oil over medium heat. Fry the burgers for a few minutes on each side until golden brown and slightly crispy. Remove from fry pan and place patties on a plate lined with a paper towel.

Optional: Sprinkle the grilled salmon burger with a tiny bit of Himalayan Pink Salt and serve on a hamburger bun.

Broccoli Slaw

What you will need:

  • 5 cups grated broccoli stalk
  • 1 large grated carrot
  • ½ thinly sliced red onion
  • ¾ cup dried cranberries
  • ½ cup chopped pecans

Dressing

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp honey
  • ½ tsp kosher salt

Optional: ¼ cup chopped Green Onion

how to make it:

Combine all ingredients and adjust sugar to your desired sweetness.

Note: Make this broccoli slaw when you can find a bag pre-cut at the grocery store. Such a simple salad thing to make.  If no pre-cut broccoli is found, look for two of the longest stalks of broccoli you can find.
